Our Approach to Nursing Care at Valerian Court

We have a team of friendly, qualified nurses who have been trained and are experienced to provide person-centred care to each individual. They are there to provide 24-hour care to those who rely heavily on others, such as those with physical disabilities, long-term health conditions, critical illnesses and those who require palliative care.

Each resident will have a primary nurse assigned to them who will care for their needs so that residents and their loved ones will always have a familiar face to talk to. Before a resident moves to our home, we work with the wider nursing team as well as residents’ loved ones to create personalised care plans which are monitored regularly.

Nursing Care FAQs

Care homes and nursing homes may offer different services depending on the needs of their residents. At Valerian Court Care Home, we support a range of nursing needs, from medication management, wound care, support with daily tasks, and caring for health conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease. Our nurses also collaborate with other care experts when needed, so that each person gets the exact care they need.

Consider a care home for yourself or a loved one if you’re observing these signs:

  1. Noticeable weight loss or changes in eating habits
  2. More confusion or forgetfulness
  3. Difficulty with everyday tasks like bathing, dressing, or grooming
  4. Recent hospital trips due to accidents or falls
  5. Chronic health problems like diabetes, heart disease, or dementia getting worse
  6. Struggles with medications or treatment plans
  7. Need for special medical care or equipment, such as oxygen therapy or wound care

Both care homes and nursing homes can evaluate care needs and offer advice on the right care. When deciding on a care home, it’s crucial to have open conversations with your loved one about their needs.

At Valerian Court Care Home, our commitment to our duty of care is unwavering. To ensure individuals’ safety, we uphold adequate staffing, employ trained and qualified nursing staff, enforce strict infection control and medication management protocols, and consistently carry out safety assessments. Furthermore, we’ve instituted security measures to prevent unauthorised access and ensure the safety of our residents.

At Valerian Court Care Home, we require a 28-day notice period for residents receiving any of our long-term care types and are looking to move out. Our compassionate team are on hand around the clock to support you with your moving transition and answer any further questions you have.
