Community Partnership Shines at Valerian Court
On a glorious Saturday, May 11th, Valerian Court Care Home hosted a highly successful car wash event. Open to the public and widely advertised on local noticeboards, along the perimeter of our building by the busy road, and on Facebook, the event drew significant community participation and support.
Firefighters from Didcot Fire Station were a highlight of the day, lending their expertise and enthusiasm to the car wash efforts. They joined our team in spraying, soaping, rinsing, and drying cars, although they did find our jet washer a bit gentler than the high-pressure hoses they typically handle!
The event ran from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, during which around 20 cars were washed, raising over £300. The funds will be split between our Resident’s Fund and The Didcot Powerhouse Fund, which supports local initiatives under the banner of "Fuelling Better Futures." A portion of the funds will also be allocated for purchasing gardening equipment for our residents and enhancing their days out.
In addition to the car wash, our Kitchen team, along with relatives, team members, and regular attendees of our Memory Café, contributed delicious homemade cakes for sale. These sweet treats added a delightful touch to the event and helped boost the fundraising efforts.
The day was a fantastic blend of community spirit, hard work, and fun, all for a good cause. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Didcot Fire Station firefighters, our team members, residents, and everyone who participated or contributed in any way. Your support helps us continue to provide an enriching activities programme and improve the lives of our residents.
